INCAP TEAM
Jim is President and founder of InCap Group, Inc. He is responsible for the overall development and direction of the firm. He participates in every client assignment. Earlier in Jim’s tenure at InCap Group, he managed a fund administration, fund accounting, and transfer agency business that specialized in providing services to mutual funds.
Prior to founding InCap, Jim served as the Chief Administrative Officer of Legg Mason’s Asset Management operations. During Jim’s tenure at Legg Mason, the firm’s assets under management increased by more than six-fold and Legg Mason was transformed from a regional broker-dealer and asset manager to one of the 20 largest asset management firms in the U.S. Jim’s responsibilities included oversight of Legg Mason’s Asset Management businesses, M&A activity and product launches. Previously, Jim was Legg Mason’s Associate General Counsel.
Earlier in his career, Jim practiced corporate and securities law at Covington & Burling in Washington, D.C. Jim has served on the Board of the Forum for Investor Advice and the Board of the Historic Charles Street Association and has been a member of the Institutional Investor’s International Mutual Fund Institute. Additionally, he has taught the Mergers and Acquisitions course at the University of Maryland School of Law. Jim is a graduate of Yale Law School (Editor of the Yale Law Journal) and Franklin & Marshall College (Phi Beta Kappa, with Departmental Honors in Government and History).
Irik is InCap’s Senior M&A Specialist. He provides the firm with unparalleled expertise in the buying, selling or combining privately owned Wealth Management and other financial service businesses. Over his career, Irik has been responsible for in excess of 200 M&A transactions. These were primarily private companies whose owners were seeking to undertake a transformative transaction. Irik is especially adept at understanding middle market companies’ owners’ objectives and developing an M&A strategy, and then negotiating, and most importantly consummating transactions to realize those goals.
Prior to joining InCap, Irik was the Founder, Chairman and CEO of Star Gas Partners, the nation’s largest home heating fuel company. He built that business from $50 million to over $1.25 Billion in revenue through both organic and inorganic growth strategies. He was also a Founder and Partner at VantaCore Partners L.P., where he acquired over $100 million of businesses. That company was sold to Natural Resource Partners L.P., a NYSE listed MLP.
Irik graduated Cornell University, NYU Law School and Columbia University Business School with the highest academic honor, Beta Gamma Sigma. After completing his formal education, he was an Investment Banker at Lehman Brothers Kuhn Loeb.
Irik has been married for 37 years and has three children.
Theron is an Associate on the investment banking team at InCap Group. He supports the firm’s M&A and valuation assignments.
Prior to joining InCap, Theron worked for Hightower Advisors, supporting the firm’s team in Wayne, PA. In this role, he conducted securities research, market research, and data analysis to help the firm’s advisors and clients effectively evaluate and monitor portfolio risk.
Theron holds a Master of Science in Finance and a Bachelor of Arts in Economics from Villanova University, where he also played on the varsity baseball team.
