Jim is President and founder of InCap Group, Inc. He is responsible for the overall development and direction of the firm. He participates in every client assignment. Earlier in Jim’s tenure at InCap Group, he managed a fund administration, fund accounting, and transfer agency business that specialized in providing services to mutual funds.
Prior to founding InCap, Jim served as the Chief Administrative Officer of Legg Mason’s Asset Management operations. During Jim’s tenure at Legg Mason, the firm’s assets under management increased by more than six-fold and Legg Mason was transformed from a regional broker-dealer and asset manager to one of the 20 largest asset management firms in the U.S. Jim’s responsibilities included oversight of Legg Mason’s Asset Management businesses, M&A activity and product launches. Previously, Jim was Legg Mason’s Associate General Counsel.
Earlier in his career, Jim practiced corporate and securities law at Covington & Burling in Washington, D.C. Jim has served on the Board of the Forum for Investor Advice and the Board of the Historic Charles Street Association and has been a member of the Institutional Investor’s International Mutual Fund Institute. Additionally, he has taught the Mergers and Acquisitions course at the University of Maryland School of Law. Jim is a graduate of Yale Law School (Editor of the Yale Law Journal) and Franklin & Marshall College (Phi Beta Kappa, with Departmental Honors in Government and History).
- Irik SevinSENIOR M&A SPECIALIST
Irik is InCap’s Senior M&A Specialist. He provides the firm with unparalleled expertise in the buying, selling or combining privately owned Wealth Management and other financial service businesses. Over his career, Irik has been responsible for in excess of 200 M&A transactions. These were primarily private companies whose owners were seeking to undertake a transformative transaction. Irik is especially adept at understanding middle market companies’ owners’ objectives and developing an M&A strategy, and then negotiating, and most importantly consummating transactions to realize those goals.
Prior to joining InCap, Irik was the Founder, Chairman and CEO of Star Gas Partners, the nation’s largest home heating fuel company. He built that business from $50 million to over $1.25 Billion in revenue through both organic and inorganic growth strategies. He was also a Founder and Partner at VantaCore Partners L.P., where he acquired over $100 million of businesses. That company was sold to Natural Resource Partners L.P., a NYSE listed MLP.
Irik graduated Cornell University, NYU Law School and Columbia University Business School with the highest academic honor, Beta Gamma Sigma. After completing his formal education, he was an Investment Banker at Lehman Brothers Kuhn Loeb.
Irik has been married for 37 years and has three children.
- Brian Lauzon, CFAMANAGING DIRECTOR
Brian is a Managing Director at InCap Group focused on business development, including working on select M&A client assignments.
Brian has held various leadership positions within the wealth and asset management industries. He led business development and fundraising for Merganser Capital Management and served as Managing Principal of AdvisorAssist, a management consulting firm that focuses on independent RIAs.
Most recently, Brian led the growth initiatives for a private equity firm. In this role, he oversaw product approval due diligence processes and originated new fundraising channels with independent RIAs family offices and other intermediaries.
Brian earned a Bachelor of Science degree from Villanova University and Master of Business Administration with honors from The Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania. Brian is a CFA charterholder and serves as President of the CFA Society of Philadelphia.
- Michael HanlonVICE PRESIDENT
Mike is a Vice President at InCap Group and is actively involved in all of the firm’s engagements. He also has operational responsibilities. Prior to InCap, Mike worked in corporate finance for ACL Airshop, assisting in financial planning and analysis; designing forecasting models and cost analyses. Prior to that, Mike worked as an Analyst at Tobin & Company Investment Banking Group contributing to valuation analyses and market research.
Mike received a BA in Marketing and an MBA from Lenoir-Rhyne University where he graduated as a member of Delta Mu Delta. While at Lenoir-Rhyne, Mike was a Captain and an All American for the Men's Lacrosse team. In his free time, he enjoys being with friends and family, competing in team sports and exercising.
